Take Five
Five favorites from a week in the life
I wanted to start a series of things that have sparked joy or inspired me lately. I often get asked about my life in Barcelona, so I thought I would start a series of those everyday details. Nothing too serious and definitely not exhaustive. Each week I’ll share five recent favorites in different categories across my life. Short, sweet, and not-too-curated. I’ll link what I can, but feel free to reach out if something sparks your curiosity. Happy reading!
Artist:
Learning about Catalan painter and printmaker, Joan Hernández Pijuan.
I walked into this art gallery, and met the owner who I adored and he introduced me to this artist, Joan Hernández Pijuan. Instantly I was in a rabbit hole learning about his work!
Flower:
Viburnum and sweet peas two of my very favorites and they are in season. I grab a few bunches whenever I see them.
Baby Brand:
Baby cheeks and Buho, one of my favorite Spanish brands for littles.
Architecture:
I was driving in a taxi yesterday and I snapped this building, a beautiful example of Catalan Modernisme. You learn a lot about Modernisme living here, but here is a quick explanation from a quick google search —
Catalan Modernism, or Modernisme, was an art and literary movement that flourished in Catalonia (primarily Barcelona) between 1888 and 1915. Championed by the rising industrial bourgeoisie, it acted as a cultural revival of Catalan identity that intertwined organic, nature-inspired aesthetics with traditional craftsmanship.
Quote:
I was cleaning my desk the other day and found this, it hit home.
“Read this twice.
The universe meets you at the depth of your surrender, not at the height of your struggle.”
- Matt Cooke
I hope you have a great week!
