Things I always find on my bedside table

There’s something quietly intimate about a bedside table—what we keep close when the day ends and the lights go out. These small objects hold a certain tenderness, a rhythm to how we live. Mine is a place for middle-of-the-night thoughts scribbled half-asleep, a book always within reach (in the age of digital, I’m still devoted to the weight of a real one), and a small bowl to catch the day’s jewelry before dreams begin. There are hair ties, big and small—some mine, some unmistakably hot pink and borrowed from my daughters.

On a small tray: a balm I reach for nightly, a single bloom in a bud vase, candle and a small treasure—right now, it’s a lucky rock I picked up on the beach.

I’ve cleaned it, cleared it, curated it—and still, the same few things always return. No matter the season or mood, these are the quiet essentials I can’t seem to sleep without.

1. I always need a catchall dish for jewelry or the aforementioned hairties. I love our small dish in grey travertine!

2. Hand cream is a must for me. I love the look of this sleek tube from Mienne.

3. As an occasional “email-from-bed” type, blue light glasses are non-negotiable—and PJ Lobster ones are my go-to.

4. A Spanish brand I love is Rowse and they make the most divine lip balm.

5. I’ve been loving this silk sleep mask from Cultiver, my go-to for all things bedding.

6. A bedside table isn’t complete without a gorgeous bloom, and our black angular vase is my go-to for the task.

7. My friend Jaymee makes the most beautiful note pads, which are perfect for keeping by your bed in case a late-night idea strikes. It’s way more chic than typing something on your phone.

8. I’m not a huge fragrance person, but I do love this Fig one by Le Labo.

9. A cute clip is always a good idea, especially when it matches your catch-all dish. I love this marble one by Undo Hairware.
